I understand what you're saying and hope to be able to differentiate between "continuing" plots that work and those that don't (at least not for me).Gracehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04040441084648426091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1447996151440578956.post-90262814875870440042017-01-22T14:39:41.462-08:002017-01-22T14:39:41.462-08:00I don't know if I like series though I look fo...I don't know if I like series though I look forward to the next book by C. S. Harris, Donna Andrew, Carola Dunn, or Deborah Crombie. I like to have each book be complete in itself as far as the mystery goes. I prefer books where the main detective has one partner in his or her love life. I do not like books that end with a cliff Hanger, except for the detective's love life. I want the mystery ended in that volume. I have read some of Mary Balogh's series such as the Survivers' Club and Jo Beverley's rogues or her Georgian group
Some series are detective stories like Lord Peter Wimsey or those of Ngaio Marsh. There can also be a series of books connected to a group of some sort, or a theme, or a family.
I have to like the main characters no matter the type of series.I have started some series and given up and never read another book by that author because I didn't care about the characters. I don't automatically buy the next volume of all the series. I gave up on Elizabeth George and haven't read a book of hers when she killed Helen. Some people have a series tied together by just a theme like a secret baby. It must be hard for authors to keep up the pace and the intensity when writing the tenth book of a series.
Regencyresearcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10828749339318882968noreply@blogger.com
